  • Not just bots tho. There are some real users that are just paranoid. Go back to any old asklemmy or NSQ question and you see the (-5) in comments, people run scripts to delete old comments. It's the norm here.

    I don't blame them tho. If its like older than 7 days, and you haven't saved the info, I'd say it's fair game for the original user to delete it.

    Honestly this is probably the most terrifying thing for me to see, even more so than the average American racist stuff.

    Cuz like, if someone ia actually flying that in public, that a very bad sign, my paternal grandparents were alive during WW2 and I was told that they had to like leave home to flee from japanese soldiers. My compatriots died under that flag.

    Cool Game I thought, but parents got mad that it automaticaly billed the phone company... not my fault, I'm the younger sibling so I think I mostly got away with it and my older brother was the one that got the most trouble, he tricked me to press the download button.

    Same, can barely hold a conversation with my parents. Talk about like space exploration, medical terms, science, politics, or any deep conversation and suddenly I'm struggling to find the vocabulary. I have the Chinese Language Lexicon of a 2nd grader.

    Conversations with relative in mainland China or any like older relatives like grandparent are basically impossible. Even the aunts/uncles in the US that speak English... it's still gonna be awkward when its always Cantonese in family gatherings, suddenly speaking English feels so like "wrong" for some reason, like its weird, the vibes would not even feel like family, it would feel like talking to a stranger lol.

    Emotional abuse of immigrant children by their immigrant parents probably contributes a lot to to why the kids hate their ancestral language(s).

    Immigrant children probably never have to deal with the embarassment of accidentally called their teacher "mom"/"dad" because of the difference in language.

    Maybe most of society doesn't have much critical thinking because those who get those "critical thinking" genes go crazy from overthinking things and therefore fail to pass on the genes.
