  • @fajre @Codeberg ist "a non-profit, community-led organization that helps free and open source projects prosper. Our services include Git hosting (using @forgejo ), Weblate, Woodpecker CI and Pages."

  • @JustOneMoreCat If all accounts use Lemmy, all images are also federated. But in the communication between Lemmy and the rest of the Fediverse there are still some restrictions regarding pictures in replies.A #Friendica forum would probably be more suitable. Here is an insight into what this could look like: peertube.stream/w/p/4K4MWYXMEY…(an older version of Friendica is shown here, but in principle it is currently similar)

  • @gigachad Yes, Lemmy really is a kind of special case in the Fediverse. From Lemmy, you can only post or comment in threads that are in groups (i.e. Lemmy, Piefed, mbin, Friendica groups) and can't follow individual accounts.Of the others, groups are the exception, while Lemmy specialises in them. In this respect, Lemmy can do less here, but it is more clearly structured.

"Recommendations for German Friendica instances? (...) I'm looking for recommendations and hoping someone here knows friendica bit better and could recommend a german instance or two!"

German Friendica instances: I can recommend anonsys.net (the instance I am writing from) by @tux and loma.ml by @feb

  • @VeSpectagles I wouldn't make myself dependent on whether the key instance is by the same admins as the lemmy instance. The key softwares are generally recommended if you want a lot of functions and a modern interface. I particularly like the Antennas / News Pickers, with which the content can be structured very well according to your own search terms (a kind of topic-specific timelines). The interaction with Lemmy also works well. There is an instance list for #Sharkey and #Iceshrimp instances here

  • @3dmvr In my experience, it works best with #Friendica. Firstly, it is the most widely federated (in addition to activity pub also #Diaspora + if required also Bluesky and Tumblr).Secondly, in my experience, posts from the #Fediverse are displayed best and most completely. For example, this post by #Lemmy or #Peertube posts are displayed in full here, whereas Mastodon, for example, has problems with posts with headings, does not display video descriptions, and does not display all images.

Let's see if these images will be federated:

Mastodon, on the other hand, does not fully display starting posts with titles:

  • @Jerry Interesting, but the video shows a completely different way of using #Friendica than I use it.This is mainly about the newsfeeds, that - which is one speciality of Friendica - can integrate many different protocols, so that there are connections not only to the Fediverse in the narrower sense (= Activity Pub), but also to Bluesky, Tumblr, Threads, Diaspora etc.

In contrast, I am only interested in the Fediverse connections (in the broader sense, i.e. including Diaspora).

The other side (which I find more interesting) is Friendica's advantages, how you can actively interact from Friendica and how you can create your own content, and structure received content + , the good way Fediverse content is displayed,.

  • @andrews Between Lemmy and Friendica (this account), all pictures are now even federated in the replies.

This is what it looks like from here:

Between Lemmy and Mastodon /Sharkey currently only a maximum of one picture in the OP. But it seems to be possible in principle.Since last year, a lot more has been working between Lemmy and the other Fediverse.

  • @TheRedSpade @Teknevra If I understand it correctly, a Fediverse account (e.g. Mastodon) can be used to create reviews (about films, music etc. from the database). And these reviews can then also be shared and commented on in the Fediverse.
