  • Could be that, could also be deliberate intelligence gathering. Probing response times and things like that.

  • I like the one who thinks that eventually the Police Union will get the Pinkerton treatment.

  • That sort of reminds me of videogame speedrunning and how even something like Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Bro’s, or even Tetris is still relevant and improving.

  • I saw a comment the other day on this that I’ve been thinking on, paraphrasing it went something like:

This article is intended to send a message to North Korea. Several years after the fact they publicly release details of an operation that was arguably pointless in the first place and resulted in a massive failure on several accounts. The listening device wasn’t planted, they were discovered immediately and the ongoing nuclear talks quickly fell apart after this, and it’s unknown if those are related. If you’re NK you have to assume this wasn’t the only operation and that other attempts have been made, and if they aren’t talking about those failures maybe one was a success. So this could be the US signaling to NK via the NYT “We’re listening” to spread paranoia or signal they know about an upcoming plan.

IDK, personally I just read this stuff as them bragging like the ghouls they are.

  • In my local area it’s 4 dollars for a lone hashbrown, I think where my folks live it’s closer to 2 something

  • Someone at work offered me the hashbrown from their combo breakfast the other day, I ate it because I couldn’t stand seeing 4 dollars worth of fried taters thrown out. Have they always been so oily?

  • Best I can tell, some people just like the gender roles thing, even if they rebel slightly against small portions that affect them personally.

  • Some people just want more suffering in the world.

This reminds me of my boss explaining to me his idea, where if you cause a wreck on the highway, you get prison time and a fine for all of the lost opportunity cost for everybody affected by the wreck, including businesses, whose employees are late.

It’s not enough for a medical bill to bankrupt you for life, let’s have a car accident on the highway bankrupt you for life as well.

  • It’s clippy revisionism, the nerds shit all over clippy when Microsoft forced him in there. Nobody really even remembers clippy outside of memes.

  • Or disable PFP’s, or do like the Disney streaming app where you select one PFP out of an assortment of choices. As long as folks are willing to stay on the platform, Corpo’s got lots of options

  • All of my sympathy, friend. I have a couple specific mugs I rotate through and I would (will) be devastated if (when) they break. I can’t even get rid of the special ones when they do break, I always fix them up best I can and use them to hold stuff / decorate my shelves

  • Not me side eying my growing shelf of broken mugs holding my growing collection of wooden pencils, lol

  • As soon as I discovered weed, alcohol was dead to me, gotta be a few of those cases going around.

Anecdotally, all the early 20’s I’ve met smoke over drinking, but my crowd is made up of ND potheads so idk if that’s worth much to generalize off of

  • This is the first time I can remember the previous console getting more expensive when the next console releases.

I got my GameCube for $50 when the wii came out

  • It’s just like the endless complaining about Oklahoma‘s toll roads that is never not funny to me

  • Roosevelt and Pearl Harbor as well

  • I don’t see why steamdeck users wouldn’t run retroarch which has plenty of PS1 cores including a working duckstation one. Nobody I know of is using a standalone emulator for anything ps1 or below

  • Seems fair to me, this is their ball they made themself and they weren’t having fun anymore so they went home and took it with them. Don’t really see the issue besides some vague entitlement to a fork of their work
