Yet Denmark seeks to allow the US a stronger military presence in Denmark and buy even more arms from them.
Looks like Denmark is preparing itself to be the full servant of the US and will likely not mount any actual resistance if the US decides to invade and annex Greenland.

It seemed that for Jackass ultimately noone was killed. Also it seems that the participants were not in a vulnerable situation that was exploited, but engaged with full consent and were able to give consent.

Um gegen Felddrainagen vorgehen zu können, hat der Nabu Brandenburg ein Rechtsgutachten in Auftrag gegeben. Viele alte Drainagen in Brandenburg könnten demnach illegal sein. Das Gutachten verweist auf das Wasserhaushaltsgesetz, das vorschreibt, dass für die Einleitung von Wasser in Flüsse oder Gräben eine Genehmigung erforderlich ist. Genehmigungen aus DDR-Zeiten seien aber in der Regel abgelaufen. „Da es sich um ein politisch brisantes Thema handelt, schreitet die Verwaltung nicht ein“, sagt Ellner.

Jan Sommer hat das Thema Drainagen im Kreistag angesprochen, doch niemand habe darüber reden wollen. „Mach kein Problem daraus“, habe man ihm gesagt. Das habe ihn an frühere Diskussionen erinnert, in denen er argumentieren musste, dass es den Klimawandel wirklich gibt.

Verantwortlich für die Drainagen sind die Grundstückseigentümer*innen. Wer über die Rohre Wasser in Flüsse oder Bäche leitet, braucht eigentlich eine Erlaubnis. Kontrollieren sollen das die Unteren Wasserbehörden in den Landkreisen – kommunale Ämter, die dafür zuständig sind, Gewässer zu schützen und ihre Nutzung zu überwachen. Doch auf Nachfrage wissen viele der Unteren Wasserbehörden in Brandenburg nicht einmal, ob es in ihrem Kreis genehmigte Drainagen gibt.

Wenn das ordentlich aufgearbeitet wird, könnten folgende Folgen entstehen:

Strafen, inkl. strafrechtlicher Verurteilungen für die ilelgalen Einleiter.
In jedem Fall ein Beenden der Einleitung mit entsprechenden baulichen Maßnahmen, was sehr teuer wird.
Konsequenzen für die Behörden, die ihrer Regelungspflicht offenbar überhaupt nicht nachgekommen sind.
Probleme bei der Bewässerung mit Grund- oder Oberflächenwasser.

Zum letzen Punkt: Wenn man mit etwas anderem als Regenwasser bewässert, dann braucht man Drainagen. Das Wasser in den Flüssen und Seen oder im Grundwasser enthält Salze. Nicht viele, aber es enthält welche. Wenn man dann über Jahre Felder damit bewässert, die keine Drainagen haben, dann versalzt man sich die Felder langsam aber stetig, bis diese unbrauchbar werden.

Bevor man dann das Problem in seiner Fülle angehen will, und auf Lösungen statt Schwarzen-Peter-schieben geht, wird dann in Deutschland natürlich lieber am Status Quo festgehalten, egal wie kaputt der ist. Falls man es doch angeht, dann indem man lieber nach Schuldigen sucht, anstatt eine insgesamt tragbare Lösung zu suchen.

These "permissive interpretations" also mean that if someone is fighting for example for Russia or some mercenary organization, they could justify it based on the right to equal treatment in the face of the law. These are the kind of laws that must have no exemption.

They should arrest those dual citizens upon arrival in the country and charge them accordingly.

So for all the people saying they voted the "lesser evil". Your lesser evil is justifying the slaughter of children based on who their parents supposedly are or were.

Also hist claims that the casualties would then show to be lower and much less civilians is ridiculous in the face of even the IDFs internal database showing that they murdered 83% Civilians.

Jacob Lew is just saying here that he has been feeding blindly on Israel propaganda and then regurgitating it through his administration to the general public.

She has a talent of making the worst out of an office. Although the current President Steinmeier already is a disgrace for the office, spewing Racism and shaking hands with internationally wanted war criminals.

A GUI makes sense if you want things to be approachable. A CLI makes sense, if you want things to be well customizable.

E.g. compare LaTeX script with setting formatting in an office program. Yes i see directly how the formatting is. And if a good Formatting standard is set, it can be used quite well nowadays. But if just want to put one Paragraph differently in order to fit a picture or table or something then things quickly get messy.

I'd say there is quantitative difference, e.g. if you count them, human rights / international law violations by the EU are far lower than by Russia, China or the US. However in terms of "quality" you will find many examples, where the EU or individual EU countries are engaged in the same type of crimes.

I.e. being involved in wars of aggression, illegal occupation, destabilizing countries through financing and arming militias ("terror groups" if they would oppose EU interests), arms exports to murderous regimes, neocolonial economic policies, crack down on civil liberties such as freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, more totalitarian surveillance measures, brutal border regimes...

We must stay vigilant and fight back against more moves into that direction, lest the EU becomes more and more like the mentioned nations.

China produces about 3/4 of the worlds neodymium magnets and those are the strongest permanent magnets. As such they are critical components for all sorts of electrical devices.

China has the monopoly or practically the monopoly on many rare earth extraction and refinement, as well as a strong presence in the manufacture of components out of it. China's industrial strategy has identified critical industries for the 21st century and is building to become the global leader in all of them. China is way past the point of letting the US bully it and so they are calling Trumps bluffs.

As for companies that are "good" or "neutral" it is difficult to find and i don't know where to look either.

Depending on your situation and possibilities you could maybe invest into your own subsistence. E.g. if you own your house and/or some land you could look into making yourself as energy independent as possible with a PV-System. You can start growing as much of your own food/material and try to lower your overall consumption footprint. Basically the less you engage with the capitalist economy, the less of your money can be used for the wrong things.

When it comes to investing in businesses, looking local might be the way to go. E.g. if you can talk directly with the owner and communicate if they fit your guidelines, that gives you more of an insight than just looking at the reports of stock companies. Obviously that requires you to have a relevant amount of money to invest and investing in small businesses is more risky than investing in larger companies, ETFs or the like.

I am not sure how permissible it is for countries to require higher standards than the EU when it comes to road safety. Also what would be the consequences? Pulling American looking cars out at the border and sending them back? That will be quite the headache for Schengen.

China is state capitalist since about the late 80s. The "liberalization" of the economy in the 80s and the quickly rising class inequality, corruption and the like that came with it was a major factor in the student movement that led to the protests which then where shut down with the Tiananmen Square massacre.

So unlike it is often painted Tiananmen wasn't an anti-communist democratic protest movement. It was a democratic movement against the new state capitalism and it was brutally massacred to ensure that the new state capitalism would prevail in China.
