Orinoco tribune and Telesur English are my current go-tos as a non-Spanish speaker, I also like Chris Gilbert’s blog, he’s a Venezuelan professor who travels around the country visiting communes and writing about their developments in communism.
Edit: also Cuba’s Prensa Latina has an English language site but it seems to be broken? The main spanish language site works but the English language one doesn’t :/

Orinoco Tribune - The Weight on Delcy Rodriguez
Pushes back on US narrative about Venezuela, talks about popular support and commune development

Orchi recovery is going really well!! I can’t wait for everything to fully heal up, but already feeling really good about the change

Iran’s response to Trump’s threat to destroy Iranian power plants, Iran says that the next step up the escalation ladder would be

You don’t need to do an amphibious assault when you can build a land bridge across the strait

No that’s not the case, if either of your parents only has Italian citizenship then you get it by descent always. It’s only if neither parent has sole italianship and you are born abroad that you lose it. So the kid born it japan would have Italian citizenship unless one of the parents had japanese citizenship in which case they would have that instead

Assad returns and fulfills his dream of opening an ophthalmology practice in Damascus

Thanks for the context, that visualization site is cool. And yeah I see how it makes sense for tech journalists to hedge their bets and have accounts on a variety of different sites. Didn’t realize how centralized Bluesky users were onto bluesky’s own official instance, 98% is huge

iirc people like Cory Doctorow have been able to set up their own servers running Bluesky’s own federation protocol and you can follow and interact with them on Bluesky even though their accounts and servers arent controlled by bluesky the corporation. So even if the company goes to shit (which seems very likely) they have still contributed something to the federated social media world. I’m not knowledgeable about the specifics of how bluesky’s protocol works or how it is different from ActivityPub though, and it doesn’t seem like anyone in the ActivityPub world is eager to switch to Bluesky. So maybe all of the left wing people will end up going to AcriviryPub and the libs will fall for whatever the next corporate “alternative” is

Back in the day people used to put effort into their racial hate mongering, now they just copy and paste the same two or three lines over and over
Also I know it’s a small thing because this is all fascist garbage that just gets spewed out for a few chuds to consume, but Iranians are some of the nicest people on planet Earth, like their hospitality is some next level shit. Fuck these fascists for viewing all non-white people as subhuman

Ohh gotcha

Huh? What’s the source on this

I’ve been using gnome for a long time now on several different distros, I’m now on Fedora with gnome but all of the KDE hype lately has me wondering if I should give it a try. I’ve been trying to avoid switching just because of FOMO, but trying new stuff can be fun… Maybe I’ll try it out on an old laptop or something
