The funny thing about Europe is that despite their ruling class sharing the same ghoulish values as the US, they might actually be the only ones with egos big enough to put up an actual fight. I've been seeing some US/EU discourse where each calls the other entitled and snobbish. Of course, that's not something I'm going to bet on though.
Well, I have good news for you my friend, the US doesn't require credibility or legal grounds to intervene wherever it sees fit. It subscribes to one law and that's Darwinism with a capital D.
I'm going to take a wild guess and predict that the "illegal content" he ends up going after will be left wing political content. They already have antifa listed as a terrorist organization and we know how these things work.
Yeah, sadly in the majority of low GDP countries, if you give people money to do something, they are going to do it much more often then not, whatever that might be. And the US/Israel have plenty of fiscal money to give. Ideology isn't what matters for the vast majority of people in the global south, their own personal livelihood is by an overwhelming degree. It's not an insult, it's just a material reality. Even China had to fight a very hard battle against corruption during it's era of poverty and still is to a lesser extent.
While it indeed happened easier then I would of expected, the reasons are not that difficult to surmise. One country is reliant on leftover scraps from the 1980s for it's military hardware, the other has multi-billion dollar datacenters they can use to strategically dissect the country and figure out precisely what is the exact best things to do at the exact best time. The US historically never struggled with toppling state actors, it's difficulties where with quelling decentralized resistances. What happens now is the big question.
I lean towards pure evil villains but either can work if done right. DBZ shines because of its villains and especially Frieza in particular. His personality was based off predatory real estate speculators during the Japanese economic bubble and it shows. He's evil because he's a spoiled brat born into an uncontested level of power like most bourgeoisie in real life are.
When humanizing villains it should be done to expose greater flaws, to show how material neglect can lead people to a life of crime and what not. Breaking Bad does this well with it's characters.
The username of that bottom commenter isn't doing them any favors in making me think they are coming from an angle of good faith.
Also, funny coincidence that bigotry towards Somali citizens suddenly happens at the same time that Somalia and Israel start butting heads over recognition of Somaliland.
I had a cringe 12 year old Call of Duty player phase that I'm not really proud of. However, even before I knew anything about socialism I always felt a sense that there was something sleezy and dishonest about most the people shown here.
This is something that I think a lot average people haven't fully realized yet and still think Made in China = low quality and cheap, when in fact China nowadays not only leads in terms of scale but quality as well. Funnily enough this used to be the case with Germany once upon a time as well, where "Made in Germany" was originally a derogatory insult slapped onto to German goods by the then more industrialized British but backfired as Germany eventually caught up and overtook Britain in manufacturing.
So basically what you need to fear is powerless minorities, a dystopic CCP CIA surveillance state which already exists, and people who are trying to make you get more exercise.
When reading this I was thinking about how it sounds like the kind of things a Christian fundamentalist that watches Glenn Beck would say, and sure enough I was correct.
Yeah, imagine not believing the Hollywood blockbuster scenario of Russia having intended to march their army down across into Portugal to take control of Europe's famously abundant supply of natural resources. It couldn't be that the reverse is far more probable and that Europe seeks to conquer Russia for it's resources which we all know has never been attempted before in history, no.
One of the big flaws I've seen for myself with GDP is that is doesn't account for wealth that is being siphoned out. So, you can have country have a relatively high GDP due to western investors and tourists coming in and driving up spending numbers, while still being dirt poor because all that money being funneled straight back out via trade imbalances, asset takeovers, corruption etc.
I mean, you bring up Russia in a post that has nothing to do with Russia. But sure, keep thinking that Russia is the only possible reason someone could come to the conclusion that the EU is a hellhole.
Somewhere, in another universe that is unfortunately not ours, the UK would rapidly be developing plans to prepare for war against poverty and poor living conditions.
I'm genuinely scratching my head here regarding with the US's plan here military assuming they indeed intend to go through with a ground invasion. Iraq was a massive logistical endeavor and the US back then had more better places to stage an invasion via Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Colombia has drifted from US influence and Brazil isn't currently a puppet at that level either. If they put troops in Guyana it would be very obvious. Doing a naval invasion over a vast area of water is also extremely risky even with overwhelming military superiority. Invading with paratroopers would be even more disastrous.
