  • It blows my mind that hydrogen peroxide is just available anywhere when I think about it too much.

  • I think the 0.1%'s racism comes from the lack of action rather than a deliberate action. They know climate change is real, they know it's accelerating. They know their actions are accelerating it and that it will mean suffering for an uncountable number of people. What they're betting on is that by extracting as much wealth as quickly as possible they can protect themselves and their loved ones from the worst of it for as long as possible. If a lot of people need to suffer to make that happen, that's a sacrifice they're willing to make.

It's just that all the systems that the 0.1% use to accumulate their wealth and power are also racist systems. Which they are totally happy to take the power and money but aren't willing to do more than a token demonstration against the system that makes them. Cause that would put themselves at risk of losing something, and that is a thought the super rich cannot handle.

  • Ice cold!

Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, okay now ladies. Now we gon' break this thing down in just a few seconds

  • Agreed, my dog has probably kept me significantly more physically and mentally healthy than I would be without him.

  • Is anyone surprised at this point that there is no low this president won't stoop to?

  • Example from my week, training. This week I was training some fresh employees, one of them asked a really good question which I didn't have an answer to at the time. I told them as much and said I'll come back to them after the session to find an answer to their question. They were unhappy with my answer but I had a class full of people who want to get back out to do their work. The best thing to do was move on, get everyone else going then follow-up. Which I did and I learned something. My point being, sometimes it's better to be wrong and move on than to stop everything to answer a single question. Experience has informed me what questions I have to take immediately and what ones I can circle back to.

  • And we'll do it again!

  • Isn't Lemmy a type of social media? I know they meant the popular apps, but in my opinion Lemmy is still social media.

  • American's are still welcome to Canada, just leave the MAGA bullshit at the door. We're still sibling states. Even though our older brother is increasingly hateful and violent, you're still our brother. We're worried about you. We won't tolerate any of your abuse though.

  • I'll say two things that I have actually found useful with ChatGPT, helping me flesh out NPCs in the tabletop RPG campaign I'm running, and diagnosing tech problems. That's it. I've tried to program, have it make professional documents, search things for me, all of it sucks compared to just doing it myself. Definitely not worth poring a significant chunk of the global GDP into.

  • 'The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi' isn't left-wing propaganda, it's what my grandfathers taught me. Those men were definitely not "Left-wing" lol!

  • Add on all the bullshit they hide in their contracts to cover liability. Fuck Disney saying that their customers can't sue them because they paid for a Disney Plus account. Should be legal but apparently it is.

  • Oh man they're totally going to do that. It'll be like China's housing boom but with commercial construction. Anthropic and OpenAI will start building data centers with the promise of putting a data farm inside. Except there will never be enough hardware to fill the space, that won't matter. They'll be able to sell investors on the promise of data dominance.

  • She literally can't, ICE agents are federal agents which means they have civil immunity from lawsuits that are a direct result of their duties. Unless they're doing something that a reasonable person would understand to be a breach of the law. That said the federal courts seem to use Donald Trump's circumstantial definition of a reasonable person and only his. So fat chance there's a legal solution to this.

  • And now we have arrived at the tragedy of the commons. Why should anyone care about common interests over themselves?

  • Obviously not. They don't want to bring prices down, they want to bring profits up. Representatives and senitors don't give a shit about your safety in a car, but do care a lot about the big three car manufacturers stock buyback options. We're less than worthless. We're annoying voters they don't need anymore, compated to a stock but back you're a nuisance.

  • To be fair to Musk (LOL!) NASA was chock full of former Nazi scientists back then. You don't believe me? walk into NASA sometime and yell "Heil Hitler!" WOOP! They all jump straight up! R.I.P Jessica Walter.

  • I worked retail in those days, it was crazy. It was common for a few fights to break out. One time I remember pulling out a new skid of Christmas trees and I didn't even get to the main isle before customers mobbed the skid. My manager was so pissed off at me for not stopping them but how can one person stop dozens of people without any help. Black Friday was gross and BFCM is no better.

  • I compare him to Heinrich Himmler, who was Adolf Hitler's right hand man for most of Nazi Germany's existence. They're both equally pathetic, hate filled men who are responsible for causing a Holocaust. They even kind of look similar.
