  • I hate to tell you this, but Trump is becoming very popular with the average Canadian. The average Canadian hates their own government so much that they'd rather throw it away and become America's 51st state. If you come to Canada to escape MAGA you're just going to run into more MAGA.

  • Yeah there's a surprising number of Canadians who are enthusiastic about Trump and the idea of becoming America's 51st state. Particularly in Alberta.

  • "Well good news folks, problem solved. You need to be a person to be a pedophile and Grok isn't a person. Therefore Grok can't be found liable for anything it does. Therefore it's safe and won't risk me being litigated. Therefore it's safe as is for kids. I don't know why everyone got so upset." Says Elon Musk. /S but also not/s.

  • You say /s but it is absolutely a not /s. If this goes to the SCOUS that'll absolutely be their decision.

  • The ones worth watching in my opinion are, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, finally Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks together. As for The Original Series, Enterprise, Discovery, Cadets, Picard, and the rest can be skipped. The Original Series is fun to go back to but it's so unlike the rest I can't get into it.

  • Also jury nullification. Doesn't matter if the verdict the jury delivers is guilty or innocent, so long as the jury says one thing and thinks another it's jury nullification.

  • No unfortunately it's the future consequences. We've already passed the +2c of global warming two and a half decades earlier than expected. Which was the threshold for significant but not world ending effects if we had hit it in 2050. At our current pace we're looking at the near worst case scenario by 2050, which only a small percentage of boomers might live to see. Most won't see most of the effects of climate change.

  • Yeah but Conservatives and particularly Republicans are great at spreading a message. It's more important that people believe that Conservatives and Republicans are good stewards of the economy than actually being good stewards. The economy will ebb and flow regardless of what anyone does, so why do anything about it when you can just take credit for the highlights.

  • Controlled by LLMs perhaps not, but I believe that the execs pushing AI are drinking as much AI Kool aid as anyone you know who has AI psychosis. That could be why AI is so sycophantic. That is the social model execs in the big 7 want the world to treat them, and they've drank so much of their own Kool aid that they believe it now.

  • Do you have a SteamDeck OLED? Maybe try BG again, for a lot of this year I had problems with it too mostly around HDR. Then I tried again this fall after a substantial bug fix and it ran great. Just a little stuttering loading assets once in a while.

  • ...okay but I hope you can admit that while Global news is the Canadian mainstream news media equivalent to Fox News, that there is a huge difference between the two. I'd still consider Global news as reputable a source as any other mainstream Canadian news broadcaster. Whereas I don't consider Fox News to be news, journalism or anything other than propaganda and entertainment.

  • And yet Democrats will still manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I am expect them to lose seats in the election.

  • Does it though? It seems like they're going with their vibes more than the law. Wouldn't matter if you listen to them or not, piss law enforcement off and you're a terrorist. They'll find something you did to fit the bill.

  • Live long and prosper.

  • Have you seen leftist in a room together? The only thing we love more than fighting right-wing politics is fighting each other.

  • On top of that it's not like there isn't any energy outside of a wire conducting electricity. It's just that in the vast majority of applications it's insignificant. Electricity isn't really a thing, it's all just fields.

  • Killing in the name of! Killing in the name of.

  • Yeah but it's not like Et Al. has been supervising/leading any papers, research or stuff like that. Their name is always stapled on the end.

  • Is there nobody in the government looking at safety issues like un-openable doors?

Really? Are you actually surprised? The man who decided to put electric un-openable doors onto is the same man who took a chainsaw to the federal regulatory budget and got rid of any agency that had the the authority to rule on such an issue.

    To repeat:

Is there nobody in the government looking at safety issues like un-openable doors?

Nope, Elon Musk fired the people who were responsible for making his cars safe because Elon thought their recommendations cost too much and your safety is a sacrifice Elon Musk is willing to make if it makes Tesla stock value increase.
