  • I’ve started working on a copy of still for Android. It got really frustrating that there were only two apps for Android and both aren’t what I want, so I’m creating a Still copy.

  • Not to worry. Thank you for being awesome <3

  • Brother. Take a deep breath. Lmao. You’re coming in hot with all these assumptions without knowing me. First assertion is that I am actually originally an American. I’m a fucking immigrant whose country had very little cars, and we didn’t even have such thing as public transportation. We just walked. Near me here in the US, the nearest bus stop is about a mile away. And the bus comes there literally once every couple of hours. So, going to the gym would take me at least 3 hours or more including my gym time.

I don’t assume people are poor or ghetto or whatever shit you assumed I do without knowing me. Jeez. It would be the kettle calling the pot black, my dude. It would be stupid. I’ve been working out my whole life and I don’t need any lessons from you, thank you. I’ve never been fat in my life and will never be (I don’t go to the gym to be skinny. I can do that without gym). I just don’t want to waste 3 hours for something I can do in 5 minutes. I have this thing called life and family, ya know? My car is old and paid off, too. It ain’t no damn luxury either. Worked my ass off to pay it off. Don’t assume things about strangers you don’t know.

  • You must live in Europe. I’d rather walk the 3 miles from my house to the gym than wait for our bus in the US.

  • A chicken running with its head cut off = intel. Wtf are they doing? It has been very obvious that Linux gaming is taking off, and the GPU/gaming market has a huge gap that they can fill, but they just walked the other way. What?

  • She fucking loved it. She literally deleted the other one right away.

It does have some things locked behind a paywall, but they’re not essentials to the app like downloading a book like other apps did. This one locks some customizations and adding more than one server behind a paywall, which is something I don’t have anyway and she doesn’t care about customization on the Home Screen. I’m still going to buy the premium to support the dev anyway.

    Thank you so much <3

  • I know for a fact they’re better than a physical book, but I just can’t focus and understand them. It’s insane how my brain just blocks them. The other day, I literally even stared at the screen trying to follow the book, a couple of seconds later, I was thinking of something else. 😂. Gave up. I might need some training or something

  • I think we are all set on Audiobookshelf and Audiobooth. I appreciate you :)

  • I’ll leave that part for the wife to take care of, since she’s the one who does audiobooks. I can’t. I will never be able to actually listen to an audiobook no matter how much I try. I don’t know if it’s my ADHD or what, but I just can’t focus.

  • What a gorgeous app. I don’t listen to audiobooks, I can never focus, ever. I have to read words, otherwise I’d definitely use this app.

  • Found a FOSS client that doesn’t leech, they don’t lock anything behind a paywall, they just ask for a donation as an option, which is very nice of them. Already sent them one donation and I’ll be sending more if the wife enjoys her new app :)

  • I SelfHosted a buncha things. I’ve been working on moving away from big tech for a while now. Set up ABS to experiment with it and it’s been nice so far. Found a decent iOS client that is FOSS. It’s called Audiobooth. Wife is the iOS user, I’m a user of both iOS and Android.

  • Thank you. I’ve set it up on the server and I’m now experimenting with it. Pretty nice so far

  • Thank you :)

  • Thank you. I’ve tried both Plappa and Audiobooth. I like the latter more.

  • I actually didn’t realize it was open source until I read your comment. That’s why it felt like a nice place and didn’t lock anything behind a paywall. Money well spent then. :)

  • I got Audiobooth and it doesn’t lock some features behind a paywall like prologue does. It only has options to donate. Sent the dev a donation of course and gonna keep trying it out.

  • That’s really nice. Thank you.

  • Fuck audible and fuck Amazon. They literally used my card without my permission to charge for an audible subscription. I had to call them and get my money back. Closed all of my accounts with these fuckers.
