Whether intentionally or not, what do movies depict or present wrong a lot of the time?

I think familial relationships are often romanticized in movies. I always see siblings act like they are best friends with each other and in my reality my brother and I are just two people. We like each other but I wouldn’t say he’s my best friend and I don’t think he would say it either.

On the other hand, my brother and sister are two of the best people in the world, and we get together as a big family with all the kids absolutely every school holiday. Some families are close. We don’t always agree on everything, but we always get along well.

My brother and I are bffs but we don’t refer to each other as bro or sis. I hate that trope.

I’ll say “bro” to my brother in the same way I’d say it to friends.

“Sis” on the other hand, I’m convinced only exists in movies and porn

Yes, also hollywood portrays friends and family as cussing each other off and being really pissy with each other because “nothing mean that we say is lasting or counts as an insult because we already have emotional invulnerability to one another” - it is not like this AT ALL in real life. The people who can hurt you most are the ones closest to you, and i think that this is an example where real life has been imitating the art too much - people are much more emotionally abusive of one another than before, taking banter much too far.

Man no kidding. Sitcoms! People just quipping at one another and taking it in stride, still being best buddies while mocking each other’s (usually one-note) shortcomings.

Try that with 99% of people in real life and chances are it’ll just get you in deep doo-doo. People can be shockingly sensitive even over small things.
