WASHINGTON (AP) — Most Americans believe civil liberties like the right to vote are under threat, according to a new AP-NORC poll, while also continuing to agree that the rights expressed in the nation’s founding documents are still core to American identity.
The survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that most Americans across demographics believe the right to vote, the right to free speech and freedom of religion are integral to the country. But they were more divided on the importance of the right to bear arms, and few — about one-third or less — saw those rights as safe from threats.
I remember the massive protests in Minneapolis, and the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and how there was a ton of reporting of the bipartisan nature of the protests and the simple sabotage efforts that took place against ICE. (And, of course, the anger at the militarization of our cities against citizens.)
I wish I had the link, but I distinctly remember a young white guy talking about how he voted Republican but he couldn’t support Donald anymore when he’s watching grown, masked men chase down elementary school children and cuffing them.

It was also jarring seeing the videos of ICE agents making women go into port-a-potties with them, and we all know what that was about.
November is going to be a referendum on Donald’s choices to engage in Gestapo tactics and ignore the soaring cost of living, both of which run directly counter to the promises he made when he was elected and significantly impact a citizen’s personal liberty. This is why his approval rating is lower than Jimmy Carter’s.
