US intelligence agencies have recently assessed that Iran can effectively shut down access to the Strait of Hormuz at will from now on, meaning the country’s regime has acquired a powerful new ability to hurt the global economy as a result of the war, according to three sources familiar with the findings.

      This could be the most consequential defeat for the US since Vietnam, and it might even be bigger in the grand scheme of things. The US bombed the shit out of Vietnam, and razed much of the country to the ground. They just left because the cost of attrition got too high.

      But Iran actually defeated the US militarily. They managed to shoot down their jets, attack American bases and other assets in the region, and drove US navy out of the Gulf. As a result, Iranians managed put themselves into a position where they dictate the terms. This is huge because everybody in the world can see that the US can be defeated now.
