On hexbear I get so many upbears for the goofiest ahh shit I write, silly bits, dad jokes, any old thing my brain farts up. On reddit, you’re pushing like one or two upvotes and always downvotes, like people are big mad over there and everything is srsbsns.

Life as a leftist is exhausting, sure. The world is a bleak place ruled by genocidal narcissists. But imagine being a reddit lib that believes everything they take in from their sacred texts: MSNBC, NYT, WaPo, The Atlantic. You’d be on edge all of the time. History is just some shit they tried to force upon you in school but the current moment? This shit is real. There’s no framework to understand anything that’s happening—it’s unprecedented! It’s a wonder they’re not having panic attacks all the time.
As a leftist, life definitely sucks but at least I have community and we can still bring each other joy. I’m also able to understand that what’s happening now is part of an unbroken chain going back thousands of years and see myself as part of the collective resistance against feudalism/liberalism/capitalism/fascism.
