It does track though with the hegemony. I think since its from the perspective of a single person it works out. I pirated the book also and I’m kind of intrigued how close he got to some good points but probably not what he was intending. Also of course great man of history bullshit but I think that’s a common enough flaw with our limitations with creating a interesting story that a person can track easily. Other wise everything would be those memes of the epic fantasy book series. Though this is me just mussing on the top of my head.
Ge said the reason his works are successful is that they aren’t woke. So that really sucks.
Your interpretation is as valid as anyone else’s. Death of the author and all. Great man of history is hard to avoid when you’re being character centric and wanna do something on a large scale, I would think though.

Who’s Ge?
It’s interesting cause a lot of people in my circles have flocked to Grace the main character as a valid representation for Around/Ace. And then you have Stratt who is a women. The worst thing is the handling of the Black character mostly because of some decent spoilers I won’t get into for lurkers. But he’s not a stereotype and everyone else kind if suffers from that same spoil issue…but it is a decision for who it doesn’t effect that’s certainly a part of it. But the point being the idea that it’s “not woke” is certainly funny cause it certainly hits the cud definition of “woke”.
I did a podcast with some friends where we covered hegemony in TV and I’ll say its not like the best but its certainly middle ground. Though maybe my bar is in hell after some shit I’ve seen. Girl Meets Communism and Yellowstone

I didn’t notice anything with the black character, but I’m a big ol whitey and probably blind to a problematic aspect. Is the main character meant to be aeroace? I thought they tried to imply some romantic tension with Stratt.

I don’t think it’s on purpose. But yeah it tracks. Especially the book. Honestly I kind of had to just go back mentality and think through the movie and I can see where someone can interpret that. But I kind of have to squint and look sideways. Regardless he’s certainly been adopted by the community.
And it was because of the podcast. It is up there in some of the worst shit I’ve ever watched. Every part of it is just bad and wrong. Like they didn’t even get cattle or ranching shit correct ffs. (Originally I’m from rural Oklahoma) All hat no cattle show for the all hat no cattle suburb white racist assholes. I could go on.
