Jack Black is looking good! Good for him.
Sweet Child of Mine is certainly a choice to back up a story about an octogenarian
So what’s his secret to not having a fucked up back, or arthritis, like the rest of us at that age?
Like most things in these rare cases, genetics. And simple luck of the survivor.
I do think these rare cases can be increased somewhat in number by just remembering that life is largely what we make it. As a mid-fifties guy that’s done a lot of fun things in my life, it’s a mental game.
I am watching the collective anxiety of those in my age group around me gather as I just keep cool and acknowledging that I’m already a dead man. Why not reach for everything I want now? I am only promised an an eternity of nothing, why not live while I’m here?
I can’t stop the inevitability of genetics and time, but I surely don’t have to stand by and let social norms apply a further weight and undue pressure.
Yeah genetics are huge. I was a vegetarian doing powerlifting. People would ask “what’s your daily gym routine?” And I’d say “uh I just go once a week for 2 hours.” I just put on muscle fast…or flab if I don’t bother exercising and over eat.
Staying active and not letting your muscles atrophy.
At that age, all it takes is one accident that puts you on your ass for a couple weeks, and you never fully recover.
Fucked up back is(I would guess) mostly life related or lack of exercise, not a natural thing caused by aging.
Spinal discs naturally degenerate with age.
Things that might not have shown up on an X-Ray at the time of injury (like falling playing a sport, or tripping when coming down the stairs) often cause severe problems later in life. It’s pretty common to have these kinds of incidents all throughout your life.
Exercise is great, but it’s not going to stop injuries or natural degradation.
No, but good strong support muscles will protect the injury from happening during your life and will also help a lot after even if you have an injury.
Bet he won’t feel so good tomorrow though
