tldr:
* I installed console-only Debian on an old laptop (no desktop OS at all)
* I added some packages to make it work better for writing:
* network-manager for connecting to hotspots while I'm away
* kmscon for custom fonts and more than 16 colors in the tty
* tmux for a nice status
Who wrote this, George R. R. Martin?
Jokes aside, that’s a great use for an old machine. Idk if my writing can be pared down that much (I use so many references and usually cross-check different sources before writing), but it’s a fun project. It does feel funny when the author says “I just this this simple command: STUFF THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND TO SOMEONE NOT ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH LINUX TERMINALS”. I understand their target audience might not be people who don’t know anything about Linux or who only have passing knowledge (like me), but it still reads a bit out there.
