Been a long time since I got on a plane and it’s not something that interests me very much. I’ve often thought if I did travel via plane I would just take a carry-on for no other reason than to not deal with lost luggage. Now, that seems like an even better plan.
I just take a carryon only of the bare essentials. Buy clothes at the other end and most drop-off laundries will be able to find a home for them if you ask them to donate them after you paid for cleaning.

I have not traveled by air much at all but I have never checked a bag. Totally agree.

Honestly, it seems like taking a boat is just the only correct answer for international travel.
