You would believe the things I’ve seen! They’re quite ordinary things really.
This post is for casual conversation if you don’t feel like making a post of your own.
Just pissed off ranting/venting.
Washing machine is making an odd noise and it’s regular. Kinda grinding noise when the drum(?) is spinning. It’s not even that old machine, barely 3 years. So that pissed me off significantly, additionally dealing with the paperwork and warranty automatically agitates me. Picking up the washing machine, lifting it on my shoulders, going to the electronics store with public transport, dropping it on the counter and saying to fix this shit. Is a completely reasonable approach in my eyes. Yes, I’m strong enough to do it as well.
Usually my wife is the social one and deals with any issues that requires talking, but as shes going on a vacation trip, she didn’t took it anywhere near seriously enough. Which kinda made me slightly agitated at her direction as well. She has all the paperwork regarding it as well.
Luckily we had extended warranty, original warranty ended in March and hopefully they will contact us on Monday. Shits still fucked, hopefully they still have the program running where they’re offering replacement washing machine until old one gets fixed. If not, then ,fuck. I’m running a machine load almost every single day, 2-3 loads on the weekends, you can imagine how rapidly that shit will pile up. In addition it broke during the weekend, while the washing basket was already overflowing due to some people constantly leaving their dirty clothes laying all over the house.
Just a fucking nice start for the mandatory 2 week vacation. The stress around it is going to cloud the whole vacation.
Yes i already looked up a local laundromat as a backup and will probably have to hand wash workout clothes as well.
But still, it shouldn’t break down already, it’s still rather new. That’s the part that pisses me off the most.
I hear you! I get irrationally angry when things break or stop working even though I know nothing lasts forever. A weird noise on the car sends me s p i r a l i n g.
When our drier caught fire a few years ago (lol just the plug don’t worry, we turned off the breaker and it was fine) I learned there were no 24 hour laundromats anywhere near me. What in tarnation? You mean I can’t trade waking up extremely early to avoid the hunger games of finding a free machine to do laundry in? It took forever to get an electrician to come and diagnose and fix the issue because it was a small job, and we survived but it SUCKED. Here’s hoping your misery is minimal.
Yeah that irrational anger is one of the biggest reasons i have learned to fix as many things as possible myself. Kinda gives some peace of mind when something breaks, washing machine is one of the few exceptions as when that breaks it’s an emergency. I should buy an extra backup washing machine to avoid it happening again.
Lmao this reminds me of when we got our well inspected and I was like, okay we should keep a shelf spare pump right? and the guy looked at me like I had two heads.
It’s a jet pump, it’s not in the well itself, so it should be somewhat trivial to replace instead of it being a massive emergency to source one when the existing gives up the ghost. I am risk adverse!
I’ve done some small plumbing jobs around the house on the non-potable side, but not sure I want to fuck with the well.
Honestly that sounds completely reasonable. If the breaking of a part causes an emergency, there should already be a backup ready to go to avoid the emergency.
It’s so frustrating how finding an electrician to do a small job is a nightmare! We finally found a guy who does basically just small jobs and while expensive I nearly cried. Cause someone who, when they hear “yeah just a stove” doesn’t quote a billion dollars and ten months instead of just saying no.
Wow! What a score! Protect this guy lol
What brand is the washer?
Electrolux Perfectcare 600. It was one of the few top loaded ones available and had the biggest capacity amongst the meager choice.
Ah. Got a Speed Queen washer for reliability and a Hotpoint dryer for ease of repair. Managed to change out the heating element on the dryer already.
Have to remember that one. After getting this one fixed I’ll probably start looking for a backup washing machine to avoid any emergencies in the future.
