Some weeks ago US media was saying Saudis were covertly demanding US to win decisively against Iran. Now they are blocking US actions against Iran?
US media lied or Saudis lost they faith in US ability to protect gulf states?

I think it’s plausible that the Gulf states expected the US to defeat Iran swiftly. Now they’re realizing that’s not going to happen and being US vassals puts a target on their backs. This was just reported as well:
The report said Saudi Arabia declined Washington’s request to use the Prince Sultan Air Base, located southeast of Riyadh, and also denied permission for American aircraft to fly through Saudi airspace.
US allies will be reported to have said whatever the US media needs them to have said to cover for the US at any particular time.
