This isn’t actually true, but it’s still harmful to touch wildlife. They could be injured if handled improperly, they can get sick, and it’s probably pretty stressful to be picked up by a giant monster.

Honestly I’m not even sure these pictures are real, though. I don’t see any images that look quite so moss-like from verifiable sources.

Yet when my daughter walks into the house holding a baby bird… (actually happened this week) Just put it back where you found it. Damn thing was within a week of being able to fly. Put it back where it’s mother can find it!

I think that’s where “don’t touch baby birds” comes from. Baby birds grow up fast, so it’s not uncommon for them to end up outside the nest before they’re quite ready.

Some baby animals you don’t touch. Some you do, like possums. You tell kids not to touch baby birds because they’ll kill them if they’re not careful. They got hollow bones.

I’ve handled baby quail many times. Just picked them up off the road and moved them over to the forest. You can do it, just be sane.

You dont do that with deer cubs. I always knew this but i found one and was so amazed i carried it inside the car so my coworker could pet it xd

It was so cute my brain stopped thinking. I later called the local forest service and ofc i also put it back.

Birds are more reptile like they dont care. They even kill some chicks if they seem weak.

I don’t understand how people think animals “adapt by changing their color” mfer they “adapted” by nesting in moss because their feathers fucking looks like moss. Not the other way around!
