Shell executives struggled through a combative parliamentary hearing, repeatedly clashing with senators and warning a new export levy or windfall tax would be “spectacularly ill-advised”.

Frustrations boiled over as two Shell representatives failed to answer key questions on export volumes and revenue, while the inquiry examined how the country taxes its gas exports.

I wonder if Sen Pocock has got an answer by now? Has anyone got the answers yet?

David Pocock doing the good work he was elected to.

    Yes.

Edit: to answer OPs question: probably not.

Haven’t heard that name in a while.

I’ll thank him for turning some young uninformed voters away from the LNP (or worse), but you don’t win any voters long-term by being just as blind to criticism of the party you support, and his extreme and unexamined Labor bias got real old.

        I reckon it’s put on.

A deliberate one eye’d take, specifically in response to things like sky news.
It’s not about airing facts, but moving the Overton window.

I feel the same way about Richard Stallman; he’s an impractical zealot.
But by taking his extreme positions, it’s provided room for others to achieve real good in open source.

Jordies doesn’t care about the overton window. If he did, he wouldn’t spend nearly as much effort lying about how electoral politics works in order to put down the Greens as he does.

Knowing Jordies, like any Labor hack he’ll do some handwaving about how it’s “too hard” because of XYZ and say anyone asking for proper taxation and royalties is living in a fantasy, because of the deeply entrenched corporate interests and US imperialism.

Instead of, ya know, doing something about that, we’ll just throw in the towel. On a policy that’s ridiculously popular…

This is me paraphrasing what he’s said in the past about minerals taxes.

Iran had some good ideas in the 1950’s about how to deal with uncooperative oil companies.
