Perhaps this isn’t long enough for you, but Dark Winds currently has 4 seasons (~21 hours) out and has been renewed for a fifth season. It’s a crime drama based on the Leaphorn & Chee mystery novels by Tony Hillerman and is set predominately in the Navajo Nation in the 1970s. The mysteries themselves aren’t anything special but the main characters are likeable and it has quite a unique setting and cultural backdrop within this genre. I am closing in on the end of the fourth season and the series continues to deliver a consistent quality, so if you enjoy the first season you’ll probably enjoy the others.

Any of the shows listed at https://lemmy.world/post/44700821 would be an excellent choice.

But to recommend one that isn’t on that list, Invincible. The first episode should be enough to pull you in, and the whole first season is amazing. (And second, and third, and fourth).

Andor and Battlestar Galactica (2004) are both great shows.

Saving Andor like a 500 drink because I love S1. Battlestar Galactica 2004 I keep putting off because my co-worker is obsessed with it. I mean litterally it would not surprise me I could just name and episode that he can’t recite all characters lines, He has full sleeves, Apparently there was a ship or something that was wrecked because of anger or something and he has a full fledged copy of it on his back. It would not surprise me if he had Adama tatooed on his dick.

Push through that third session of Battlestar. It’s rough, but the rest is great

If you like cop shows (and maybe even if you haven’t tried), there’s Bosch. Good investigations and occasional action in every season. Likeable actors.

I always thought it was an extremely foreign film and did not want to get into where I spend half my time reading subtitles and trying to figure out whats what. Then I hear about legacy. Don’t know if that is like an updated version or what?

Ah, I don’t rely on subtitles, so I’m not sure how that affects the viewing experience. There’s a fair amount of American slang and cop lingo, so I can see how it might at times be tough to follow.

Legacy is a spin-off, where Harry is no longer a cop but a private investigator, and his daughter is a rookie patrol officer. It’s not as good, but it scratches the itch a bit if one is a fan of the original show.
