You are already in the exact same timeline, there still is a significant amount of child laborers in US agriculture and literally no legal age limit provided parents sign a waiver. US is and has always been a fucked up country

That’s true in most countries. Agriculture is one of the fields (ha) where underage labor is regularly tolerated. Even in the EU, you can be as young as 13 in general agriculture, and many EU states have exemptions to even that low age for family farms, which are usually excluded from employment law.

That’s fucked up, thanks for letting me know! I was under the impression it was mostly trafficked underpaid immigrants breaking their backs.

Unfortunately, evil rarely takes an either/or approach. It’s a hydra that has to be fought on every front, simultaneously.

auto plants and meat processing plants in the US were using child labor as recent as, iirc, two years ago.

Not arguing with the take but I wonder if we need more detail instead of blaming “conservatives”. Maybe we could start saying “Some conservatives” more. If we keep exaggerating the divide there is only one place it will lead.

All conservatives support this because they vote for the party that wants this. If they didn’t, then they would not be conservatives.

Not specifically. They’re willing to put up with a lot of shit to get just the one or even two issues they care about addressed. Funnily one of them apparently being to “own the libs”, lol. My point is this, look at the way they talk about liberals. When we liberals(?) hear them we think, “What a bunch of idiots, look how wrong they are about our stances on issues”. I consider the way they look at us as being that same contempt. Just a thought.

If anyone still labels themselves conservative and vote conservative, they are not blameless

I don’t say they’re blameless, only that when attacking a specific issue it’s not helpful to take such a broad swipe. You have to remember we’re dealing with humans here, a very difficult “they” to lay down.
