    You are already in the exact same timeline, there still is a significant amount of child laborers in US agriculture and literally no legal age limit provided parents sign a waiver. US is and has always been a fucked up country

      That’s true in most countries. Agriculture is one of the fields (ha) where underage labor is regularly tolerated. Even in the EU, you can be as young as 13 in general agriculture, and many EU states have exemptions to even that low age for family farms, which are usually excluded from employment law.

        auto plants and meat processing plants in the US were using child labor as recent as, iirc, two years ago.

        That’s fucked up, thanks for letting me know! I was under the impression it was mostly trafficked underpaid immigrants breaking their backs.

          Unfortunately, evil rarely takes an either/or approach. It’s a hydra that has to be fought on every front, simultaneously.
