Iran has never started a war or attacked any non-hostile country first, since before the USA were founded.
What’s your point? I agree they didn’t start it, but they have the US trapped now and have no reason to let them out without ensuring they won’t be attacked again and establish control of Hormuz.
My point is, as soon as US troops leave the area, the war is over.

And they already control Hormuz.Before the US attacked, Iran would have faced insurmountable international resistance if they tried to tax traffic through the strait. Now that the US attacked, that has completely changed the political situation. If the US leaves, Iran will continue, at a minimum, to tax all those ships. That will be a disaster for Trump’s strong-man personae.
Also, Iran does not want this to happen again. As they have stated several times, only security guarantees against future aggression by the US and Israel will being an end to the conflict.
He could kill himself, that’s a good option.
