Trump demands ‘unconditional surrender’ from Iran as war goals continue to morph

  • Read that again. The Sky News reporter only asks the Israeli politician about Israeli troops specifically after she asks him first whether there will be a need for ground troops. There are only two countries at war with Iran right now. That means she was asking an Israeli politician if American troops would be deployed, and his response was that he wouldn’t rule it out.

Having a foreign country’s politician commenting on whether or not he will have you and your countrymen sent to fight a foreign war is surreal and might only seem normal to someone who lived in an imperial colony in a bygone era. What makes it particularly bizarre here is that it’s the superpower in this situation, the United States, that is being treated as the colony.

  • This is almost certainly a cynical move on his part. But I think it's still a very good development because it adds momentum to candidates in congressional elections who say this sincerely.

  • 86 years old. He got a promotion - to martyr. Fresh blood will come into command, and hopefully be a little more ruthless.

  • I think it's important to take note of the large number of Jewish anti-Zionists who devote their lives to opposing Zionism: the Jewish Voice for Peace, Norman Finkelstein, Ilan Pape, Max Blumenthal, Aaron Mate, etc. I have great respect for these people. They need to be protected.

But I think it's a little dishonest to say that Zionism has nothing to do with Judaism. Zionism is Jewish nationalism. While a sizable minority of Jews are anti-Zionists, if a democratic vote was taken of Jews Zionism would win. All Jewish organizations in the United States that aren't explicitly devoted to anti-Zionism are reflexively Zionist, and that is the vast majority of them. The American Jewish Committee, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (which is an umbrella group covering many many orgs), the ADL, the Jewish Federations of North America, and many others not only support Zionism, but promoting support for Israel and suppressing dissent are their top priorities. They are central to funding downstream organizations like AIPAC, JStreet, and the Zionist Organization of America. The Miami Platform of Reform Judaism mentions that the state of Israel is the "spiritual and cultural focal point of world Jewry". More conservative denominations tend to be more Zionist, with some exceptions like Atmar and Torah Judaism---but they are outside the mainstream. This is not to deny the existence of Christian Zionists and their groups, like Christians United for Israel, and the fact that they are a powerful voting block in the US. But Zionism IS entangled with Judaism.

  • Iran has hit US assets in Bahrain

  • war powers resolution = congress blocks trump from going to war with iran (and others) by reasserting its exclusive constitutional right to declare war - the president does not have the right to declare war under the US constitution. Trump does this anyways and congress lets him.

  • it's an editorial choice.

  • the justification is literally "the epstein files should never have been released, because it might make people less willing to let the government spy on them."

  • because it's funny. bye.

Also Shai Davidai is not a nobody Zionist, he was one of the agitators for Columbia University's crackdown on pro-Palestine protestors.

  • God those ads are jarring. come on Tucker help me out...

but he does nail Huckabee in this interview.

  • this is called a smear

  • In which Les Wexner claims to have had a distant, professional relationship with a man he gave power of attorney and the biggest mansion in Manhattan.

  • Wow Mr. Trump you sound so innocent!

  • Has a word been spoken about how to protect Arab, Muslim, and/or Palestinian students on campus? They are clearly privileging one group over another, and amidst the confusion of anti-Zionism with antisemitism I would say this amounts to systematic Jewish supremacism in our government.

  • This is 100% driven by US "aid" and "defense" spending, furthering Israeli dependence on the US.

  • Later, however, the US intelligence reversed course and warned against proceeding.

Doubt. You have to wonder if this story is planted.

  • What are the information monopolies like in Japan? It sounds bad.
