      I guess that’s why we had residential schools operating into late 80s, still occupy unceded First Nations land, systemically discriminate against First Nations, have RCMP harassing and surveying indigenous people, ram pipelines through their land, and so on. Sure fooled me. Unless, by recognizing mistakes you meant not finishing the genocide.

        C’mon now, Yog. Surely even you, in your infinite bias, can recognize the pretty clear distinction between current day Canada, with the Truth and Reconcilliation movement and a constant stream of government actions and grants, and Hitler’s Germany.

        I’d agree the Canadian government hasn’t done enough, but you can’t pretend these two things are one and the same. Please try and present yourself as an actual, thinking human being for once, capable of critical thought and, honestly this is a generous over use of the word but, a nuanced understanding. Or are you literally just a political troll?

          Making a direct equivalence is just a straw man you’re using lacking an honest bone in your body. Nowhere did I say Canada today is equivalent to nazi Germany. What I pointed out is that Canada has not substantially changed its policy towards First Nations. Please try to make your trolling less obvious at least.

                Oh my God he did it. I’m impressed, Yog. Genuinely. This might be the most human moment I’ve seen out of you. It’s unfortunate that the rest of the response is laced with such personally targeted vitriol.

                If you think I am a “transparent troll,” you might need to get some perspective. I have literally never been anything but honest with you. But I guess it’s easier to repeat falsehoods, twist truths, and mislead others when you accuse anyone who disagreed with you of lying.

                Literally the only purpose of this main level post is to equate Canada’s past behaviour to Hitler’s ideology. Then, in response to a very simple “good thing we’ve verbally and legally recognized these past faults and literally are not doing the thing Hitler described,” you double down. Meanwhile you dismiss that the majority of these atrocities were hard stopped in the 80s with the death of residential schools, a point you brought up yourself, while the others have slowly been brought to light, culminating in the Truth and Reconciliation act. And yet you have the audacity to act coy about the purpose of this thread when someone with a real reading comprehsion is willing to call you out on it. Get real.

                I’m not sure what you think “game” is, but if you see trolling around a niche community like Lemmy and trying to spread discontent with Canadian government as “game” that you’ve become good at, I can happily say that I am glad you perceive me as being on the outside of that. It’s not something people need in their lives.
