jiang basically works back from the belief that China can exercise cultural hegemony before capitalism collapses, which is a nice bourgeois cope. they’re pretty certain that the fall of USSR was a management or rationality problem that can be overcome if they study hard enough. rationalizing something profoundly irrational works for a bit, but often leads to the worst of fascism.
