Polls polls polls polls polls. Bullshit
Miss Cleo is our political expert these days.
Of course he was going to get a bump out of this. That’s the same for anyone. It means nothing.
But the corporate sewer horeserace report can’t help themselves.

This picture is going to boost Trump so high up that I don’t think Biden or any other Democrats have a chance anymore.
Bullshit. It makes just as much sense this has no effect as it has any measurable effect. The only truth right now is that its too soon for any educated guesses or conclusions. Anyone saying firmly anything, should be flatly ignored right now.
There are so many examples of American patriotism coming out for the loudmouth. Bush’s random ass boost in polls after 9/11 was huge even though he did nothing. He just said a bunch of stupid Murica shit.
The gore/bush election was before 9/11 though.
They’re talking about Bush’s approval rating
Not talking about election. His approval rating jumped by like 15%. People suddenly supported him
Don’t kid yourself.
Reagan was shot and had the biggest landslide in history. LBJ ran a few months after Kennedy died and had similar numbers.
Reagan was going to landslide anyways since Carter was slipping. LBJ was leading a popular administration. Using the past in presidential contests to try and predict future ones is laughable, because they’re insanely complex, change rapidly from contest to contest, and we have so few data to parse from. Trump isn’t going to win because of this, most people still remember his horrible incompetence.
Carter didn’t run in 1984, it was his Veep Mondale.
If people remembered how bad Trump was we wouldn’t be worrying about Biden’s age.
Wait, that’s about Mondale? Oh, yeah, the math checks out, I guess. Mondale was the most milquetoast pick, there was no pull outside of MN. No wonder he had a landslide. How could getting shot three years before have that much of a draw?
How could getting shot three years before have that much of a draw?
You’re kidding, right?
You really don’t think that surviving an assassination attempt, after JFK, MLK, and RFK all died, wouldn’t be a big deal?
I love how firmly you made that statement.
It is a pretty great picture, but it’s not going to somehow magically make people who hate Trump suddenly decide to vote for him. At best, it’ll energize his base into voting, but his base was already really energized.
There’s a ton of fence sitters who are going to choose a side in the next couple months and this picture is going to persuade some of them to vote for him.
I mean, maybe. But let’s not confuse our fears with evidence, here. There’s no evidence as yet that this incident or this picture will lead to a statistically significant bump in people voting for him.
You’re right, no one voted for JFK’s second term.
The only real historical example that can be looked at as a parallel is when Reagan got shot in 1981. Yes, he did win the 1984 election in a landslide, but:
- He won the 1980 election in a landslide as well, so he was already super popular in the country
- He was the incumbent, and incumbents historically have done well in their re-election bids
- His opponent was Walter Mondale, a milquetoast neoliberal who was so boring it’s surprising that his name didn’t become synonymous with yawning.
In short, there’s not really enough evidence to say definitively that an assassination attempt will bolster a candidate’s chances at the polls.
His opponent was Walter Yawndale, a milquetoast neoliberal who was so boring it’s surprising that his name didn’t become synonymous with yawning.
God damn it. I’m so disappointed in myself for missing that pun.

Yes, well, there are many reasons to be concerned about what’s going to happen in November.
We need to aggressively re-caption this photo “defiant Trump arrested by own secret service detail for interstate trafficking of a minor after Epstein revelation”.
Nope, not gonna happen. No fascist this year, thanks
I used to have faith in people’s decency too.
