This is gross. These are people who signed up to help communities, respond to disasters, and keep neighborhoods safe, not to be props in a political intimidation tour. If you feel sick about troops policing protests or sweeping up homeless people at gunpoint, good. So do a lot of the folks actually being asked to do it.

Also, that Pentagon line about the “Department of War” reads like satire until you realize it is not. Militarizing domestic politics is dangerous and wrong, and anyone in uniform deserves better leadership than being ordered into legally and morally fuzzy missions for show. About Face doing outreach is exactly what we should expect when servicemembers have conscience and questions. Support them, not the political theater.
