Yes, just like with many distros you can add external repositories. Nonguix is a repository with non-free software like the linux kernel and binary firmware
Ignore the weird wording about not promoting it on the page, it’s just a warning to keep people from complaining about the nonguix packages to the guix devs, but there’s lots of crossover
Unless I’m missing something, Plasma is the KDE desktop, there isn’t a separate desktop environment just called KDE… In fact, it’s full name is KDE Plasma, it’s just frequently shortened to either KDE or Plasma
KDE separated out into Plasma and the utilities and apps separately at KDE 5. Previously it was all one package, so there is a bit of a confusing distinction.
I use guix cause having an entire OS centered around Scheme is cool and based.
Wearing out the parentheses keys on my keyboard
Cool, though mileage will vary considering guix is linux-libre
You can use non-guix
I can and do, of course!
The point was only about guix
Or do you mean I can change kernel to non-libre?

Will check out, thank you!
Figured a link would help: https://gitlab.com/nonguix/nonguix

Genuinely appreciated.
Do you happen to know if KDE is already available there?
KDE is not, Plasma is:
https://guix.gnu.org/en/manual/devel/en/guix.html#Desktop-Services
What’s the difference? You mean a DE is available but not the base software?
Wasn’t it something like, KDE was the distro and desktop name but now the desktop is Plasma?
The distro is KDE Neon
The desktop is KDE Plasma, or Plasma for short
