Yes, clearly you’ll give up all your marketshare in Europe to Android, makes sense.
Among the requirements of the DMA is that Apple ensures that headphones made by other brands will work with iPhones. It said this has been a block on it releasing its live translation service in the EU as it allows rival companies to access data from conversations, creating a privacy problem.
Is this an issue because the headphones are connected to some app made by the headphone company or something? I’m trying to figure out why this is an issue when headphones (at least that I’ve seen/used) don’t have internet access.
Maybe just let the customer decide who can have their conversation data, maybe some prefer to give it to Sennheiser instead of Apple. Who says Apple is the guardian of privacy these days while smooching with the facist US government.
On the other hand, Apple has been uncontested complying with Chinese censorship laws for years, selling the company to an autocratic regime. Not that I would be sad if they stop shipping to the EU (and I say that as a European), it’s just funny to recognize.
