You can see the spider is carrying an egg sac in this side view.

    She’s gonna be super aggressive for a bit. I’d exercise extreme caution. The Midwestern version of that wolf spider will absolutely chase a human across a 1 acre field for getting too close to her eggs/ babies.

    Wolf spiders were the ones that gave me arachnophobia…

      Uff … quite a bit to unpack here.

      • spiders are never aggressive towards humans. We aren’t prey and they aren’t stupid enough to attack something which is (to them) the size of a skyscraper. Some may do some threatening poses or might actually run away in the wrong direction (which might seem like they are chasing you, but they aren’t).

      • There is no Midwestern version of this spider. This species can be found from coast to coast.

      • As I already said, they won’t chase humans. It also would make no sense for a wolf spider with an egg sac to chase somebody for getting to close to the egg sacs as they are carrying their eggs sac with them!
