    Er… duh.

Facebook’s entire business model consists in invading as much of everybody’s privacy as possible and monetizing people’s private data. Its “products” are just honeypots to attract marks to milk for private data. You didn’t really think they turned a profit selling electronic sunshades did you?

If someone is stupid enough to buy a pair of those and put themselves under surveillance by Facebook, it’s their problem. But if I ever see anybody looking at me with those glasses on their face, they’d better remove them pronto when I ask them to or I’ll become bellicose rather quickly.

I’m sure Meta will want to normalize these in society very quickly so that you it will become just as acceptable as a stranger taking a photo of their friends with you else accidentally appearing in the background

Is there anything I can carry on my person that fucks with these things? Preferably not permanently damage them but at least make them temporarily useless.

I suppose you could hold your palm out to block their view of you. If enough people did this to someone wearing these things they might get the hint and stop wearing them

I’m nowhere near an expert at this type of stuff, but I assume some form of signal blocking device could work, so long as you don’t mind blocking your phone’s signal. Assuming it doesn’t have local storage and relies on something like a cell tower signal, cutting the signal might be the best option.

Depending on the local laws these kind of devices can be illegal and turn you into a walking beacon. So be careful and be aware of any risks.

FYI messing with communicating infrastructure, such as by jamming phone signals, is highly illegal and most networks are actively being monitored for disturbances.
