Nah, I get, that github is still a de-facto standard but oftentimes people don’t think twice.
I would agree if they are top notch productive in that environment, but I don’t see any big difference between gitlab, github and forgejo.
It takes less than 30 minutes to move a repository from GitHub to another git provider. The only reason to use GitHub is for the network effect and inertia.
The dev probably already had an account there and was too focused on the development to migrate to codeberg
