Well, about 20 years ago, just before we got married, my wife and I decided that we would retire to Italy.
The plan:
Spend an entire year touring the country
Stop for a week or so at every little place that grabs our fancy
At the year end, pick a spot
Must include olive tree (my requirement)
Profit (measured in quiet retirement that includes trips to the local village for coffee and / or wine and food with visits from children and grandchildren)
Our reason for Italy is fairly straightforward: Love the people, great weather, incredible food, the wine (c’mon), the chill lifestyle, absolutely beautiful country.
Ah I’ve been there a good few times and seen North to mid-South on the west side. My first trip there with my wife (girlfriend at the time) was designed to impress. I booked the whole thing - We started at lake Como then down to Milano. Best pizza of my life, hands down.
Other trips have included an F1 race which was so fun because Ferrari won with an Irish driver, Rome, Pompeii, Napoli, etc.
My best friend growing up has Italian blood so I got shown around properly at a young age. Loved the vibe generally.
Oh and there was one place called the five towns or something. Holy God. 👌

Must have been '98 with Eddie Irvine, and Cinque Terre. 👌🏻
It certainly was!!! Haha. Good times!!!
And yes thank you very much. That was the place.
Separate reply, are you Italian? Otherwise that’s some F1 memory
Sounds amazing!
Ah fingers crossed it all works out but it’s nice to look forward to.
What’s your own favourite destination? Lasagna implies Italy 😁
I have yet to explore Italy and other parts of Europe. I’m a big fan of British Columbia in Canada. Lots of beautiful nature to explore over there.
But def love a lasagna 🤤
