Askmiddleeast is an astroturfed sub the same as the lebanon and iran subs.
Look at the words they use, it’s very revealing: “Ally of Muslims”, “most of the Islamic World”, “sides with the Muslims”.
This is what the political mindset of most of these people is. They are Islamist sectarians above all. I really wanted to believe that the middle east had a united/secular future, but this will now likely not happen for decades and likely not even this century. The majority of middle eastern people have been so utterly brainwashed by this ideology that they will happily support Isis-Al Qaeda death squads in Syria, because they opposed the previous, more tolerant government. They opposed Afghan socialism because it was secular, they oppose Iran because they are Shiites, and worst of all, as I found out last December, they only “care” about Palestine because they are Sunnis and their oppressors are not.
It’s depressing and infuriating, and it’s all by design.
Liberals view Islam and Muslims at best as rhetorical tools to be exploited, not as humans worthy of compassion.
Depending on which helps their case, they are mindless bloodthirsty reactionary savages, but also perpetual damsels in distress to whose culture must be protected from le evil commies.
Never at any point would they consider the desires of Muslim peoples unless it aligns with what they wanted to do anyway.
Disappointingly short sighted comments… And after the horror that Syria has turned into, to still cling to the anti-Assad nonsense, after Iran, Iran-backed Yemen, and Shia Hezbollah have been Palestine’s greatest defenders to still engage in this self-defeating sectarian mentality…it is beyond sad. I can only conclude (this is Reddit after all) that western and Zionist intelligence operatives must have deeply infiltrated these communities and are fostering and encouraging all of this, because they are the only ones who benefit…
