I’ve been saying it for a while: Trump is going to build up the bases on Greenland and declare it U.S. territory. This is just part of that plan.

Why can’t he? Nobody will stop them. The world should be hoping for a US civil war. Meanwhile, they should build up their defenses (which they are) and even prepare to invade should a civil war happen.

If the rest of the world invades, there’s a good chance the US would not act as a unified force to repel the invasion. A majority of the people in the US do not want the current regime, and would likely not support it above the other countries, who would be seen as liberators.

I expect that if there are guns to hand out they probably would get handed out.

I imagine that it would depend on how many spares were available. Like if, for example, not many people had guns, it might be less likely to succeed. But if tons of people had gone out and bought one, there might be fewer people looking for one. And if everyone who already owned one had gotten a spare with some higher-capacity magazines just in case, that might really make that more likely.

But I’d be really interested to see if people in the US would go about learning about how a lot of weapons are made from stuff people have around their homes.

Not that any of this is going to happen, of course.

My guns wouldn’t go very far. :)

I have loads, but for example a load are single-shot shotguns. Takes some practice to reload fast. And black powder is right out. And the funky shit like .22 magnum, yeah, not a lot of rounds out there, and zero people reloading. Not giving up the .223, tiny 9mm and .45s. Go find your own damned gun!

Invading a NATO ally is a whole different ball game than launching an illegal Middle East war. They’re only replaced, at my last count, 10% of the General Staff. That’s not nearly enough for total control and doesn’t count thousands and thousands of lower ranking officers.

There may be some internal conflict and discharges all over the place, but I think most of the military would be on board with it.

On board with invading a NATO country?! Think on that some more. It’s not up there with nukes, but we’re well past merely fucked up geopolitics.

The American Military has never had any qualms about murdering their own citizens. What makes you think they’d have any qualms about invading a NATO country?

And when has the American military murdered its own citizens? A handful of National Guard at Kent State? That’s it?

But let’s stipulate that they’re just fine with killing US citizens. Going against NATO’s military is a very different proposition.

Trump falsely asserts that Denmark had given the US Greenland at a campaign rally in Georgia

US President Donald Trump continues to claim that Denmark has given the US Greenland during his speech at a campaign rally in Georgia on Oct 24. He also announced that Audi will build an automobile plant in the state.

I keep trying to explain this to people who don’t understand how fascists think. Just because the deal you signed with him was technically already in place doesn’t mean they don’t think it’s a win. Fascism just declares that a victory and moves on as if they’ve won, this is literally what they do.

And it is a win. When you back down to a fascist they take it as a win. Even if you think it’s a strategic withdrawal. They gain momentum they and gain moral authority in the eyes of the populace. Voting populace. Not to mention the rank and file.

And in this case I think they gain actual victory considering the fact that they’re now operating with impunity and no one’s going to stop them.

While that’s all true, this was more a case of fooling an old man with dementia into thinking he won concessions. Everyone on both sides of the table knows exactly what happened, but they pulled this to shut him up. While he’s a true fascist, keep in mind they’re also trying to wrangle his dementia. I can’t think of a single, modern world leader who was so… gone.

That might be a good argument if he was the only fascist in that government. He ain’t the mastermind. He’s the dotering old fool they put out front and center. The rest of them are still implementing Imperial control over Greenland now.

Huh? No we’re not. My whole point was the deal was irrelevant. That it doesn’t matter what the deal itself said the victory was in the deal happening at all. And now everything that comes after it.

This isn’t a deal with a decrepit old man. This is a deal with the fascist American government.

    “Trump falsely asserts”

Does he do anything else? Esp. when talking to his constituency who probably never left the USA except for a few soldiers.

I’m so tired of this Greenland topic. Stop giving him air. Stop the sanewashing. He has diplomatically been told to fuck off by both Greenland and Denmark (tbf, he’s also been told that whatever BS he spouts the USA can still keep its bases & rights in Greenland. But never anything else). Full stop.

Until he starts walking the walk he can talk the talk all he wants. But during the years this crap has been going on now I haven’t heard of any walking at all. The closest they ever got was to send the couchfucker over.

Not many going anymore. This one isn’t a great example because of the tight zoom (wonder why that is, hmm…), but I saw a rally the other day where almost everyone in the background was college age and bored out of their skull. Maybe it was a time of day where college kids could skip class, but it still screams “paid actors”.
