Once upon a time, KFC was the shit. It was a classic go-to affordable way to feed your kids and it was delicious. They had corn on the cob! They’ve fallen so far in my lifetime.
A lot of it probably is nostalgia (but yes the dessert selection was better then). Maybe KFC never was good, maybe nobody knew how bad it really was until the competition stepped up their game and showed everyone how much better fast food fried chicken can be… Never thought of it that way but you’re probably right.
Nowadays there’s way more culinary options from every culture on the planet in my hometown then there was 30 years ago, so my standards in taste have naturally gone up.

Might be a bit of nostalgia there. It was always junk food. That said there’s definitely been a drop off in quality and the prices are stupid lately.
I wonder if they brought back 2000s prices and stopped paying their officers hundreds of millions, if they’d do okay.
