  • I don't get it.

  • In my city they solve this issue simply by making a sign that says "drive this speed when light is blinking", otherwise normal speed limit applies.

  • That's... already a thing.

  • I don't like that you can't downvote, though.

  • I don't remember pedaling my eBike, either. With a big enough motor, they're all but completely vestigal.

  • I have my birth certificate, federal ID, and social security card handy. If that's not good enough, they can go fuck themselves. How much more proof does one need?

  • Yes and I hate them cause it's a pain in the ass having to route all my drives around them. Some trips take me 3x as long as they should cause of that stupid privacy-invading bullshit.

  • I honestly didn't know what they were thinking with that commercial. Why would you proudly advertise that you've built a massive surveillance network, during one of the most-watched yearly televised events too for that matter? Did they seriously believe that there wouldn't be a major backlash? I mean I appreciate the blunt honesty in that commercial so I'll give them credit for that.

  • Is Matrix a self-hosted alternative to Discord? I've been looking for one but the closest I can find is RocketChat, which is meant more for corporate environments. I'm going to be launching a radio station for Lemmy soon and I need a suitable solution for chat platform that I can integrate with my website (and eventually app).

  • Tell me about it. I also paid about the same for a 1070 back in 2016 and it lasted me all the way until 2022, when I finally decided to be a sucker and pony up the $1600 for a brand new 4090 at launch. Which as insane as that is, I'm glad I did because now 4090s go for about $3K used!

If you didn't buy a new GPU by mid 2023, you're pretty much stuck with what you have for the foreseeable future, given how insane prices are now with no signs of slowing down.

  • Excellent; thanks for the heads up. I'll avoid the drama and pirate any component that requires a licensing fee.

  • Yeah and I'm asking you to please don't lol

  • I know but they censored that too.

  • What's wrong with being anti-CCP? I hate China's corrupted government almost as much as I hate the USA's.

  • As a lefty, I would hate having to control the shifter with my left hand; it feels a lot more natural on the steering wheel. Furthermore, I don't understand why right hand drive cars don't have mirrored transmissions. Having first gear be away from you would be so weird.

Also I prefer to play guitar right-handed as well, because why would I want to have my dominant hand do the strumming? It makes a lot more sense for me to do the fretting with my left hand, since it is more difficult than strumming.

  • To me it sounded like they did but the audio was censored.

  • "I'm not a part of a MAGA agenda" got censored too... :/

  • Neat, but this only makes me miss StumbleUpon. It was so freaking good for discovering niche websites. I have no idea why it shut down.

  • I will when someone makes a GPU that can surpass a 4090. Not even Nvidia themselves can pull that off, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'm going to be stuck with this GPU for the next decade the way things are going...not that I'm complaining. It's a beast of a card, especially for someone like me who could only ever afford bargain bin parts until one day I came into a windfall. (That was a fun 4 years.) I don't have to worry about games being unoptimized because I can simply brute force them with pure GPU processing power. I was getting 90 FPS in Last of Us on launch. Even Cities Skylines 2 runs smoothly.
