Girlfriend and I started watching SILO last week, I thought “oh good, a SciFi show that’s apparently good”.

Spoiler

At the end of the second season there is a scene from the past where 2 characters are talking about what caused the apocalypse. One of the characters name drops Iran and says that it launched a nuclear weapon to the US. I shit you not my jaw dropped. This was released last year and the blatant propaganda was so jarring that I’m not even gonna continue watching this.

3rd season is a nose dive in quality. Its full of those exposition trauma dump monologues. and nothing really happens. We literally skipped an episode on accident and didn’t even notice.

    Also spoiler

Iran didn’t really do the bomb it was america doing a false flag.

someone put season 2’s episode 3 in as S3E3 in my grab and we were like… what in the absolute fuck is even going on here? we watched the whole thing and then when E4 started playing we figured there’s no goddamn way any of this fits together. Then I went and re-grabbed S3E3 and facepalmed.

I think season 3 is the weakest to-date, but I would argue it’s still good.

By the end of Season 2 I had the same reaction as you. Thankfully as others have said, the “oh here we go again” propaganda story elements aren’t actually as bad as they’re presented. If that’s your main issue, I’d recommend just forging ahead.

Nah, keep watching. It’s more than propaganda.

Also, I don’t know what others here are on about. I have to say Season 3 is one of the best things I’ve watched in a long time (first 3 episodes can be a bit of a slog but it just lifts up after that). Maybe it’s because I watched all 3 seasons together.

What did you not like about Common’s acting?

His line delivery feels forced and one dimentional compared to Tim Robbins

Tim Robbins is on another level and a better actor than the rest of the cast though. I find Common’s trembling voice to be kind of annoying, but his facial expressions and movements really sell me on his acting. I guess his character is a bit too one-dimensional up to season 2 (no other motivation or character trait beyond being willing to do anything for his family, and by extension the silo).

I’m ok with most of it, but my god, is Common a dogshit actor. I tried to watch it during the day a few days ago, and it’s giving Ozark a run for its money for how dark the lighting is.

Common can’t act for sure. We also needed to change the tv settings to see everything since it was so dark.

It’s pretty decent. Season 2 was a bit of a slog for me, and 3 was just confusing as fuck after so much time in between seasons 2 and 3 with no re-cap, but it actually kinda worked because the amnesia is actually felt (might make sense to those who didn’t binge 2 and 3 together)
