Republicans have tried to cast Democrats as drunk on impeachment, and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise warned at the Republican convention earlier in September: “The first thing they’ll do is impeach President Trump and his Cabinet.” There are a few calls for impeachment—including from Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts and Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, the state’s Democratic nominee for Senate—but most Democrats are hesitant to call for impeaching Trump for a third time.
impeachment wouldn’t be my first priority. a winning strategy would be extradition. just start handing these motherfuckers over to whatever country they’ve been conspiring to kidnap, kill or starve people with depraved indifference.
like trump did with CECOT and those other “third party” deportations. it puts them beyond the reach of courts or other corrupted american institutions to protect them. except, in this case, these people are guilty of crimes against humanity AND there’s significant diplomatic value for rebuilding a functioning global energy market to save lives in the short term.
kind of a unicorn win-win-win scenario.
