Hello friends! I need links and stuff to help convince a fellow that the Iranian reformist faction doesn’t hold the interests of the public at heart. He’s smitten by Pezeshkian’s latest speech and is just posting alot of edits and all that of him and is defending him and the MOU
Is this something that you should be doing? Is this productive and the best use of your time as a communist?
I saw someone ask something similar about how to defend China when they heard people in the West repeating sinophobic lies. The response that always stuck with me, I feel like it resonates here too, the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army has more than enough firepower to defend China, they don’t need rhetorical assistance.
What i meant is that, in my opinion, right now it is more important to cultivate international solidarity with Iran, its people and its government, rather than criticize specific factions in Iran. It is not our place to be “more Iranian than the Iranians”, by which i mean that we should defer to the Iranian people and their decision whether or not to engage in internal struggle or prioritize unity at this point.
Pezeshkian is far from perfect but his UN speech was good, and if someone likes him and thinks he is doing a good job it is not really the most important thing in the world at this moment in the struggle for us as anti-imperialists to tell that person they are wrong. We do not need to antagonize people who are aligned with us on what matters most right now, which is resistance to US imperialism.
I’d recommend finding interviews from Ali Alizadeh, creator of Jedaal TV, to better understand Iran’s internal politics. You can find him on YouTube in both English and Farsi.
Thanks
The Safari club, the right-wing covert alliance of intelligence services (not to be confused with the environment group) which included Iran and it’s job was to support European colonization in Africa, work to create a Israel and Egyptian partnership via the Egypt–Israel peace talks (1970s), and the arming and funding of the Afghan mujahideen.
After the Iranian Revolution and the fall of the Shah this group could no longer function and collapsed.
These Reformists are their remnant?
Misread this as asking for our help to con an ICE fellow.
My autocorrect is truly dead. I corrected it and it wrote that back
I think we all have to go through this phase, for some of us it was Obama or Bernie or even Genocide Joe.
I don’t personally like Pezeshkian repeatedly crossing Leader Mojtaba’s red lines (usually around nuclear sovereignty) in negotiations and public statements, this is where I would start
Ok
