No pets as such, but for the last couple months I’ve been helping out on a small community garden. Most of what we’ve planted & maintained are ornamental flowers, but a couple are leftover herbs from the previous maintainer, a borderline-famous restaurateur. Two mint ‘bushes’ come to mind, one of which flowered just beautifully, if not as showily as the others.
The spearmint in particular produces lovely little white & lavender flowers, which in turn attracts all kinds of little hovering insect friends. Frankly, it reminds me of my late mom’s butterfly bushes (Agastacia I think?), which attract the same, plus extra beautiful butterflies and even hummingbirds, which seemed to arrive right out of FAIRYLAND, haha.
On top of that, I could even thrust my stoopid face inches away from the scene, and nobody seemed to mind(!) I didn’t get bothered in the least, I suppose because they didn’t detect me as a predator, and maybe also they simply had things to do?
So no pets, but those are my little friends, these days. 🙂
