        This is what people don’t get…with all the glorification of interplanetary travel, it’s easy to forget that it’s a lot easier to build and survive in a base at the south pole than it would be to move to mars. At least you can open a door at the pole and not immediately die.

          Exactly! Mars is coated with toxic perchlorates on top of being colder, dryer, more remote, and with higher radiation than Antarctica.

          But since the techbros haven’t figured that out and it’s getting warmer maybe that’s my ultimate retreat.

        Went there a few years ago. And honestly wasn’t a fan. The views were pretty good for the first hour or so, but after that it’s just more of the same. Don’t trust trip advisor on this one. 1/10
