          A glass and metal sandwich looks and feels nicer, and I think plastic kinda has the stigma from being the choice for cheap bad quality items.

          It’s what people want.

      Because if you can spend $1000 on a phone, you may as well do it quite often. And if you take something for $200…well, either you aren’t ready to change phones every year, or even if you are, you won’t bring much buck.

      My last several phones have been Pixels, and I do not use a case… These things are actually surprisingly durable in my experience.

      It just hasn’t been my experience that they’re in any way fragile or easily damaged

          I had an iphone 4 that the back glass shattered when dropping it with a case on, but I’ve used my iphone 12 for the last 6 years with no case and have dropped it plenty of times with no cracking at all.
