Google Maps has updated to display "Lake America" for users located in the United States, after President Donald Trump signed an executive order this week to rename the Great Lake.
Google implements names via, in the US, direct reference from the GNIS database. If/when we get rid of Trump, all we need to do is update GNIS with those changes (which are indeed recorded by the BGN / USGS). Literally just need to update a few GIS references to fix this.
