It’s not an easy life. Outside. Travel. Dog chewed. Rained on. Muddy. Sandy.
Rode hard, put away wet, no charge. She comes back purring weeks later.

Same with my flip 3 or 4, I replaced the battery but it’s been good!
How was the battery replacement?
Not as bad as you’d think, better than typical phone repair at least (not that I have a ton of experience with that).
How do you open those up? I thought they where glued down, with the charge there’s some hidden screws…
It’s been a while but if I remember correctly you have to unsnap the grill that’s wrapped most of the way around the speaker using a spudger, and then the rest is pretty easy and I think mostly screws.
My UE Mega Boom is now roughly 10 years old. I wouldn’t dip it under water, cause you wouldn’t waterboard your grandpa anymore. But it’s still going strong!

I had one of those. It lasted a year, maybe two. Wouldn’t get another, they’re just too expensive. Got some Chinese speaker for like $25, it gets a bit louder. I don’t think it’s waterproof though.
The Boom is. Mine went in the shower with me, I’d throw it in the pool (it floats), all good.
In my experience JBL makes good shit. I have wireless headphones that are maybe 5 years old and my speaker is probably 7 years old, I had to replace my old one cause it fell in the shower and exploded but that’s a user error thing.
I’ve had one for some time now also, has taken some hard drops from a bike and still works perfectly + holds a great charge after all this time. Built like a brick shithouse.
It will do another 7 years if you keep it away from humidity. There are three things that are important: the membranes, the battery and the material quality of the chipset. If those three are kept in shape (can’t do much about the chipset) there is no reason for it to fail. I have got a Uboom running since 2014 and it’s still blasting. I met the inventor once, we talkked a long time about his product. Uboom weren’t on the market then.
I’ve got a 13 year old Charge 2 still in semi-regular use.
my bose sound link mini 1 is now 12 years old and still working perfectly with a very good battery life.
