A report by Spain’s law enforcement agency’s Guardia Civil sets out testimony on surveillance, threats and contacts with a drug clan.

…

Beatriz Biedma - who has been called to give evidence at the National Court in Madrid on October 8 - appears as an injured party in the case against Leire Díez, a former official of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) known in Spain as the party’s plumber. Investigating judge Santiago Pedraz has limited her standing to a possible offence of slander.

…

Biedma led the investigation that ended in the conviction of David Sánchez in July, when the Badajoz provincial court found the Prime Minister’s brother guilty of administrative malfeasance over a post created for him at the provincial council.

…

Her appearance now has followed a Guardia Civil report delivered to the court on October 6. The 32-page document gathers testimony on contacts between the Díez network and the Los Rochos drug clan in Badajoz, southwest Spain, along with accounts of the surveillance of the judge.

The clan’s leader, Cintia Rocho, told investigators that former judge Luis Sáenz de Tejada had spoken of the need to get rid of Biedma. She said he had also used a Spanish saying about beating sense into a donkey.

A businessman who dealt with Sáenz de Tejada said he had learned through a third party that the judge had been followed. Those behind the surveillance were people the former magistrate had acted for as a lawyer, he said.

…

Pedraz is examining whether party funds paid for a network set up to obstruct cases affecting the PSOE and the government. Former organisation secretary Santos Cerdán is among those under investigation, and the judge is weighing whether the Socialist party itself can be charged as a legal person.

Spain’s law enforcement has confirmed that, not a ‘far-right website’.

Sanchez has been facing a series of corruption cases in last years, involving his family members and close political allies. Sanchez is only interested in himself and his own career. And he is now trying to use the housing crisis and even the death of Maricarmen Abascal for its own advantalge. This person has no morality nor ethics, very much like the tankies here.

    Edit:

And Sanchez’s brother has been convicted this year.

You are spreading misleading information and fascist propaganda, @rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works.

The next deflection. There are multiple sources in Spanish about that. Beatriz Biedma has been called to give evidence at the National Court in Madrid today, on October 8. You’ll easily find these sources and a translation.

        Edit:

Here is another English language article about it:

… Judge Beatriz Biedma, who led the case against David Sánchez, brother of the president of the Government, will appear this Thursday before the National Court as a harmed party in the ‘Leire Díez case’, a procedure in which Judge Santiago Pedraz investigates an alleged network aimed at interfering in judicial processes affecting the PSOE …

This will be the first time a female judge testifies in this investigation. Biedma reported feeling “affected” by a possible orchestrated campaign to “discredit her publicly and professionally,” which would have been driven by the plot supposedly led by former socialist leader Santos Cerdán and coordinated by former member Leire Díez …

… considering that she was the object “of actions aimed at obtaining information about her, discrediting her publicly and professionally, promoting complaints and grievances against her, gathering information about her environment, and removing her from specific judicial procedures” … [and] the objective of the alleged plot was “to neutralize, disturb, or even destroy the judicial procedure whose instruction she had been entrusted with” …

Biedma pointed out that “it would have been Leire Díez herself who indicated” to former judge Luis José Sáenz de Tejada to “promote complaints” against her before the Attorney General’s Office, “believing that she had the capacity to influence that institution” …

In parallel, the judge referred to a note found in Díez’s agenda that “would be related to investigations that the magistrate was directing about clans dedicated to drug trafficking.”

Biedma stated that she was aware “of the existence of contacts promoted by the supposed investigated criminal group with people linked to a well-known clan based in the city of Badajoz with the aim of acting against the magistrate.”

Finding alternative articles about that is very easy. You can do this yourself without much effort.

Just deflecting and criticizing this as fake or discrediting it in any way discredits you completely.

contacted drug clan to ‘eliminate’ judge

Biedma reported feeling “affected” by a possible orchestrated campaign to “discredit her publicly and professionally,”

Biedma stated that she was aware “of the existence of contacts promoted by the supposed investigated criminal group with people linked to a well-known clan based in the city of Badajoz with the aim of acting against the magistrate.”

Somehow the quotes you share seem to not really support the claim that headline is making.

Ah, the next deflection. First, you question the source claiming it’s not true. When it’s true, you question the headline to play it down. Typical fascist propaganda slop?

You might benefit from looking at the names of the people reacting to you. I entered this thread with a fresh set of eyes.

You might also benefit from reading what people are writing. I am not questioning the headline or play it down. I am just saying that what you claim to be sources for the claim in the headline do not support that headline.

The headline talks about a clan that was contacted to eliminate a judge. The sources you cite talk about a possible campaign targeted at destroying the credibility of a judge.

Those are wildly different things. If you can’t see that then I can’t help you.

Here is another article reporting about the judge as she provided evidence to the court today. It says,

… Biedma’s appearance comes a day after a report from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard was made known, in which the investigators link the alleged “Leire plot” with Sáenz de Tejada. This document includes the testimony of a witness who attributes to the former magistrate having spoken of “eliminating” Biedma because she was “a fucking pain in the ass” …

The judge also indicated to Pedraz that a lawyer conveyed to her that Sáenz de Tejada had contacted people linked to a well-known clan, supposedly related to drug trafficking and based in Badajoz, “Los Rocho,” with the aim of acting against her.

Among those people would be Cintia Rocho, who stated before the Civil Guard that Sáenz de Tejada told her that Biedma “was a fucking pain in the ass and needed to be eliminated,” and that the intention, according to her version, was “to cause physical harm to the magistrate.”

                  Well that’s certainly fucked up.

It was not a deflection. It was a snarkily formulated question. I’ve come across a fair bit of arguments based on right wing/populist media articles where the basis was utterly misrepresenting what actually happened. I think such a topic should be discussed, but one needs to be really careful with the sources used.

            I end this discussion now.
