This is a weird comparison imo. The Chinese spokesman has said that, and both countries’ governments have been hailing their ‘ironclad friendship’ frequently in the past, while China is a decisive supporter of Russia’s war against Ukraine, amongst others.
I’m explaining what propaganda is. It’s not lies. It’s emphasis. The daily deluge of Chinese criticism is propaganda, even if it is all 100% true (which I suspect it is not).
Sorry, but you have lost the plot. Your example is Fox News stirring up anti-immigrant sentiment by prominently featuring one immigrant criminial, wanting to cast all immigrants in a bad light. The article the OP posted cites a spokesman of China’s foreign ministry as saying
Your example tries to put blame on a group of people by highlighting one individual, the article cites an envoy of a state making an announcement on behalf of the state. If you can’t tell the difference between the two, you need to check yourself.
I guess my metaphor had too many parts to it.
What I want to draw your attention to is the “week of wall-to-wall coverage.”
In the metaphor, it’s one story. But in this case, it’s multiple stories posted every day, all attacking China.
Why? Why are these stories being published at such a constant rate?
I’ll note that a large amount of time, the sources are USG officials; I’m guessing they want to make sure they can pass laws hamstringing China economically, and need to make China a public enemy to continue passing these laws, so the constant feed of anti-China news is effectively a domestic psy-op.
I can’t speak to “all” the china coverage, but China congratulating Russia for their elections is being reported now, because the elections were now. As for negative coverage, there are also good news coming from China, like them being able to super-scale renewable energy production, the sales figures for EVs or the general fact that China is good in lifting people out of poverty. That shouldn’t overshadow the fact however that China is a one-party autocracy without free elections and the most oppressive surveillance state, which is committing a cultural genocide against minority peoples within their borders.
Yes, I agree with all of that. This one article and post isn’t any kind of problem, and criticism of China’s domestic policies/crimes is totally legit.
What is weird is the flurry of tech news coming from US Government sources about China stealing technology or using American AI and it’s just starting to seem a little strange in the volume it’s coming out.

To give you an extreme example: imagine multiple times every day there was a story about what a shithole Mississippi was. Maybe you wouldn’t think much about it. I mean, Mississippi is a shithole. We all know it! Look at all these articles about it!
But there are plenty of other shithole states. Would you ever stop to ask yourself why there are constantly so many stories published and posted about Mississippi?
Another weird comparison. Mississippi isn’t a shithole imo, nor is China. But the Chinese government is a dictatorship, and so is Russia. They are bad. There are a lot of well-sourced reports from reliable sources you could read to learn about it.
Look at OP’s (and their alt accounts) post history. It’s all day, everyday China-bad posts. It is what it is.

I live in the states and I rarely get news stories about Mississippi. It’s got it’s problems but it’s not a world power that controls the voice of billions of people. Your analogy sucks.
